Youth Ministry Activities

Activities vary monthly

Family Events: Movies, beach party in winter, game night, lock-ins, surprise trips.

7th & 8th Grade: Retreats, Skiing, movie nights, surprise trips, camping, servant events, Very Cool Bible Studies.

Senior High Youth: Youth Group, Youth Forum (High School Sunday School) on Sunday mornings in between services,Youth Group Events, Retreats, Mission Trips, Youth Gatherings, Skiing, Surprise Trips, Servant Events, Camping.

Youth are an important part of First United. Their energy, excitement, challenges in life, and participation in the events of the community are an integral part of our congregation.

Goals of Youth Ministry provided at First United include the following:

Creating a place for young people to feel safe to express their thoughts, their struggles along the journey of life, and a place where they feel accepted and respected.
Creating a place where one can actively reflect and engage in conversation on what it means to be a child of God, living in a world filled with darkness.
Creating and environment that celebrates the gifts of play, laughter, and song which God has given to each of us.

We need AAA Adults: We are always actively looking for adults who are what we call AAA adults (Available - Affirming - Authentic.) AAA Adults enjoy spending time with Youth, are able to affirm them for who they are right now, and are sincere. These adults are able to share their faith and who they are with youth. If this describes you, please call the church office and let us know! We need you, too!

Youth Ministry is divided into four groups

Family Events - Families with children age 3 through 8th grade.
7th and 8th Grade - For grades 7 through 8
Senior High Youth - For grades 9 through 12
Intergenerational Events - For all members of the congregation

Songs and Supper activities are for young people ages 4 through 14. See the Music section for further details.

First United also sponsors Boy Scout Troop #861. They meet on Monday evenings in Fellowship Hall.
